Divorce is challenging and often brings with it unhappiness. What some divorcing individuals do not understand or learn (often until it is too late) is that their choice of process impacts their results.
According to a comprehensive 1994 study by the American Bar Association, only 54% of clients who utilize litigation as their path for resolving their divorce end up feeling satisfied. On the other hand, that number increases significantly to 75% when the divorcing couple reach resolution without resorting to litigation.
Viable options exist. Before litigation is commenced, each of the spouses should ideally seek counsel from an attorney who is knowledgeable about those options and can assist the client in selecting the option that might best fit the needs of the client, his/her spouse and the family.
